slowly, you walk across the square toward the fountain. the feeling of grass underneath your feet is a welcome change compared to the hard concrete.

the person is smiling at you. they pat the rim of the fountain next to them, inviting you to sit down. you do.

they don't say anything, so you're the first one to break the silence.

what is this place? you ask.

the person makes a gesture with their hands. by the way they're staring at you, this is supposed to mean something, but you don't understand.

where are we? you're starting to get the feeling that something is very wrong.

the person slides closer to you, and your skin prickles in response. they motion towards the water. they want you to look into the fountain?

you lean over the rippling water, and feel a hand on your shoulder. just as you're about to move back, the person pushes you into the fountain.

your cry of alarm is cut off as you're submerged under the water. you struggle, scratching against their arm, but the person is too strong.

you open your eyes. all you can see is blue.
